Siegel & Stockman

Introduction

Stockman has been making mannequins and dressmaker busts for 150 years. Handmade in their workshop near Paris, they are made from recycled paper and covered in classic off-white cotton, and are now also available in organic cotton. Stockman mannequins have been reflecting body shapes since the mid-19th century.

The process

Stockman busts require 9 steps, 5 crafts and 24 hours of drying time to be completed. Stockman's expertise is passed down from generation to generation. Thanks to this craftsmanship, Stockman has been supplying busts to the best Haute-Couture houses and fashion companies for decades. All our mannequins, dressmaker busts and trouser leg models come with Stockman's classic black metal tripod, the most stable base to work with.

The busts are mounted with a wooden stick and the classic black wooden "poignée" from Stockman, so that they can be turned without moving the base. The height can also be adjusted. As a symbol of quality, all our mannequins and tailor busts are printed with the black Stockman logo on the neck and the "Made in France" seal on the back.

Stockman Atelier Collection

The models for the Stockman sewing workshops have been handmade near Paris for 150 years. Made from recycled paper mache and covered with the traditional ecru cotton canvas, Stockman models have accompanied the evolution of body shapes for over a century. Their production requires 9 steps, 5 crafts and 24 hours of drying time. Thanks to this unique know-how, passed down from generation to generation, Stockman supplies sewing workshops all over the world with a constantly updated collection.

Unless otherwise requested, all our busts and trouser models are supplied with the traditional black metal Stockman stand, which ensures perfect stability while working. They are equipped with a wooden stick and the traditional black Stockman knob, which – slightly loosened – allows the bust to rotate without moving. They are also height adjustable. As the ultimate symbol of Stockman quality, all our atelier busts are provided with the Stockman logo on the neck and references and waist markings on the stomach.

Largely handcrafted in the workshop near Paris, the mannequins are made of fibreglass and covered with various, constantly renewed fabrics. In addition to classic cotton and linen coverings, the collection also includes coloured cotton and satin fabrics of a more refined nature, as well as imaginative prints that make these mannequins into fully-fledged decorative objects.
